01 Expedition Front Shock Replacement

My front shocks on my 01 Expedition seem worn out. Is shock replacement on this model difficult? I'd like to do it myself to save money. Im not looking for any fancy offroad shocks, just want to install new ones. Any recommentdations on shocks would be appreciated. Thanks in Advance. Jeff.

Not at all... Just need an Open End below the upper Shock Mount (you'll see) and a Deep Socket up top...

I needed to lift my 99 and put in on a jack stand, take off the wheel and use the stock truck jack to lift the A-arm assembly up a little in order to bolt things up. Do a search, I read about the dual jack technique on this forum. You also may have to vise grip the top of the shock to hold the mounting stem from spinning while you use an open-end wrench on the top shock nut. If you think the fronts are shot, consider replacing the rears too and check front sway bar links. How many miles on your 01? For shocks - Bilsteins

. Search under the various brands for user's comments. Some after-market items are considered crap by others.

I did mine (2000 Exp 4x4) without jacking anything up. Btw, probably best to look at doing all 4. Not a hard job at all.

I did the fronts on my 98, Sensa-Tracs, it took about 10 minutes a side.

i would do all 4. no need to jack it up. it takes about 10 mins a side. i nailed the whole thing in 30 mins. it make take a first timer 30 mins a shock to do.
