Drivetrain Swap Questions

I have a '94 F-150 XL 4x4 with the 4.9L engine, M5OD transmission, and Borg Warner 1356 transfer case. I would like to swap my M5OD with the ZF 5 speed (S5-42). I know the ZF can bolt up to the 4.9L, but does the BW 1356 t-case bolt up to the ZF tranny? If so, am I going to experience any problems as far as the location of the shifter levers (i.e. extending shift linkages, having to modify existing shift lever floor holes, etc.)? I know that I will most likely need to relocate the tranny mounts/crossmember, but I am more concerned with the transfer case/ transmission mating properly. Also, do you think my driveshafts would have to be extended or shortened? Any help is much appriciated, thanks.

The 1356 will bolt up. All the t-cases share the same bolt pattern. I just mounted a 205 to a ZF but had to shorten the shifter rod and I used the shifter rod from a 78 4x4.

In your case the shifters will be in the same location. I think the ZF may be shorter but I am not sure. If so then yes drive shaft work is needed.

ok, thank you. I know I could probly search and come up with numbers, but does anybody know offhand what the length of the ZF is vs the M5OD?
