hello fellas, i got a 89 f150 with aod,302,4x4. it will turn over and start, but as soon as you let go of the key and it goes back into run position it cuts off. ive replaced fuel pumps, filters, and ignition switch under dash. If u put a screwdriver in the switch under the dash and hold it in the start position it will run, you just have to unhook the starter from the solenoid to keep from constantly being engaged. im almost at my wits end here. im out of ideas. please help. thanks.
well its not the key switch, or the starter solenoid. the only thing i notice now is there is slack in the rod going from the key switch to the ignition module. so thats next on the list.
I was looking at one diagram and it showed one for the 87-89 trucks but I can not find it on other prints so I do not know if you have or not. So for the time being just disregard my post.
