WEIRD problem. need ideas, please!

So in preperation for being Santa at our party I put on the whole outfit, including the beard. Somehow while putting on the beard I got a "hair" on the back of my throat and gagged. When this happened I somehow pushed the hair up so that it's resting on the top/back of my uvula (the flap thing).

Now that you've stopped laughing, I need some ideas. It's been there for three days and I'm about to the point of sticking a water hose up to my nose to flush it out. Snorting doesn't work, I've even tried using a bent q-tip to wipe it out from behind (under supervision). Tried nasal spray also.

I've had people tell me they've had food get up there and that it always eventually worked itself out. I'm afraid this might not, and I'm pretty sure it won't degrade anytime soon.

It's irritating to the point that Strep is. I'm 100% sure I'm not sick. Any ideas?

Needle nose pliers are an obvious idea...

Uhm, have you tried to "snort" some water?

Eat something "STICKY" that will carry it down.
Pancakes with a lot of syrup seem like a good idea

The other option is to THROW UP through your nose....

(Which is gastly, but might work)

It's not hanging down my throat as far as I can tell so not sure if the syrup will help. You did help me out with dinner though, sounds pretty good. Maybe I should combine your two options? (hmm, all the sudden pancakes don't sound so good)

I haven't snorted water, but I did tilt the nose spray to get a stream instead of a mist. That wasn't exactly pleasent itself.

Two other ideas just came up: It shifted sides last night so Maybe if I sleep sitting up tonight it will go down. The other thing is to quit snorting and using spray for a while so that some mucus will build up around it (there's plenty trying to form) to help the process.

Or...a pipe cleaner... (yikes!)

/needle nose... Quite the comedian...

Try to Gargle some water and try to get it to go up where the hair is.

Maybe put the shop vac to your nose.

Sympathetic, this is just dang funny!!!! I like the needle nose pliers idea, or maybe get a torch and shot a quick flame in there to try to singe it out.

bigdaddyII, I think you may just be on to something there! I spent 6 weeks in the Lake Charles/Sulphur area working Hurricane Rita claims - it was bad. I'm sure you've already said but I haven't been on the boards that long, did you come through the storms ok?

I came out with out a lick of damage, but have been giving serious thought to relocating as I know (have known for a while) that the area I live in (about 45 miles north of Grand Isle) is due for a good whacking, but like most other people have grown complacent.

i heard of a drunk guy going to to a hospital, cause he couldnt get his contacts out. try try try try again, plus with the nurses aid... well they werent in there in the first place. he was picking at the surface of his eye.

good luck, be careful

If you have good medical insurance with little or no copay, id just go to a walk in clinic and have a doctor take it out, like I did, when I got my contact stuck in my eye.

could try pressing the mucus building idea by getting around alot of dust, cat, or something you are slightly allergic to.

I got a chunk of tuna sandwich stuck in my sinus after laughing at a friends misfortune. Stuck in there overa day before it came out. Tuna is not something you want in your nose!
