2 Amp Install

I have never attempted to install a sound system in a vehicle. I want to give it a try. I have kenwood x589, and two amps (4 channel and a sub only amp). I have not bought the wiring kit yet. I have a 2002 ext. cab super duty. I am hoping to install the amps under the driver and passenger seats. I have a kicker single 10 inch truck box, which I plan on placing behind the drivers seat. Has anyone attempted such an install. I'm looking for any pointers on which install kits to purchase and any helpful hints on wiring it up (like which wiring routes to take, removing the seats, etc).

There are as many was to do it as there are people reading this. A couple tips. When running your wires down the door sills run your power wires down one side and the speaker wires down the other. Running them together may cause you interference problems. Removing your seats is almost a must to do a neat job. Keep your ground wires on your amp as short as possible. Almost any good amp kit will work, make sure you have a fuse block in the kit. There is more to the install than just throwing it in. Take your time and you'll limit mistakes and be able to enjoy your system for a long time. There is an audio forum with tons of info there. I learned so much there when I put mine in. People here gots skills......Good luck..

I have a crew cab and I have 2 kicker amps wired and 2 kicker l5 behind rear seat with the amps under the rear seat . I have some pictures in my gallery. I have installed two differant system in this truck , the last one I used all stinger wiring for my amps and all 4 of my component speakers! A lot of people will say the wiring willn`t make that much differance, I could tell a big differance. Sound was alot cleaner. Also you should run all you speaker and rca cable donwn one side and your amp power down the other side. If you search the internet under car stereo installation you will find a couple of really good sites that help you figer the right wiring and fuse sizes and other very important install info. I spent right at $ 500.00 for all my wiring and fuse , and distribution blocks abd rca cables. I have a kenwood head unit with a kenwood eq in the dash wit kicker rs componets in kick panel with 8" mid-bass in the front doors and kicker 5x7 compoents in rear pillars, with a kenwood 10 disc cd changer and a kicker electric r3 crossover 1 kicker 04kx650x4 and a kicker 04kx850x2 amps with 2 kicker l5 10 subs . I want to upgrade to a dvd system this summer. But it really ROCKS!! Do it right the first time , wasted about $1200 the first time. Good luck and ask question and do reasearch!!!
