turbo sound

i just bought a new 06 f250 6.0L when i am going down the road with the cruise set it sounds like the turbo kicks in and out pretty frequently is it supposed to do this?

Look at your Tachometer when you here it doing this. chances are that the truck is just revving a little for small inclines, which would cause the turbo to spool up a bit. Also if it is cold where you are, the Exaust back pressure valve may be comming on to aid in keeping the engine warm.

i have tried to stare at the tach gauge while driving and cannot see any movement and this will also happen on flat terrain.

ya i am sure it is not the fan cause you can hear that it is the turbo going down the road even at slow speeds
