being that you are having such a hard time with moisture and your truck sits a long time why did you use a synthetic??????

I used synthetic because we will soon be having high temps of -5 below and lows of -35 or colder. Plus I work nights and cannot plug my vehicle in at my workplace.

Does synthetic oil retain moisture moreso than dino juice????

The oil pickup tube is inside the engine so let's hope that isn't your problem. But, on older engines, it is not uncommon for the tube to vibrate loose, or as in one engine I owned, it can crack over time.

I would only work on this only once all other possiblities were eliminated. I would lean towards your cold weather, short trips as being the cause assuming you do not have a coolant leak.

You might send out the oil for analysis, which would tell you if you do have a coolant leak.

Good Luck,

Jim Henderson
