Where are you going to put the subs? You say you have a 500 watt amp....how many channels is it? What is the RMS power output of your amp at 4ohms? What type of music do you listen to?
If you can answer these questions it will help you choose the right amp for the equipment you already have.
OK...so two channels to your mids and highs....and two channels for your sub(s)....if you couls give me a model number on the amp or specs on it I could be very helpful. If the amp has crossovers that would help alot also.
As far as saying just saying a couple of 10's...without knowing the parameters of the amp telling you that could be the worse thing to do...it also could be right.
For example:
if the amp is rated at 500 watts at 2 ohms that gives you 125 watts per channel. so if the back two channels are running a sub you need a woofer that will show a 2 ohm load to the amp....so a single 10" sub with dual 4 ohm voice coils will give you that load....or (2) 10's rated at 4 ohms...it all depends on the specs on the amp...and different amps show different power....A McIntosh amp sounds different than a Sony or Zapco....get me some specs and then I can help more....
Always remember that RMS and Peak power is different
