Cool Same Problem Different Day

I'm the guy with the 400 fuel problem. I'm getting 7 to 8 psi from my fuel pump, but my 81 bronc is still having the same problems, it dies after I drive it around the block, the two nozzles that squirt fuel into the carb only squirt when the truck starts up, but they don't squirt when I step on the gas. Also the carb has backfired several times in the initial build process, so I'm wondering if I blew the power valve, does anyone know? I have a Holley 650 with manual choke. Please I need help, or I'm going to throw my truck off a cliff.

7 to 8 pounds is too much fuel pressure. Are you sure that it isn't flooding?
Yes, you may have blown a power valve.

I think that it is time to take that carb off and replace it with an Edelbrock #1406 or the manual choke version.

I have a Holley 7 psi fuel pump hooked up to my 1406 Edelbrock. It was suggested at one time that I might need to install an inline pressure regulator. I haven't and I haven't had any problems either, so I don't think the pump is your problem. I think it is carb related or junk in the fuel line between the pump and carb.

Well for now I'm going to try installing my Edelbrock 600 electric choke carb and see how that works out until I replace the power valve in my holley. Thanks for the help. One more question, do you know how to tell if the power valve is blown out or not?

The fuel pressure should be 5 to 7 lbs. Are you sure that the manual doesn't say 7 lbs maximum?
