Automatic Belt Tensioner

Any one replaced the stock with the Automatic Belt Tensioners.

I am thinking of replacing mine.

Factory Tensioner is $51
DAyco Automatic Belt Tensioner is $49

So price is not the issue.

Just want to know which is better?

Of the posts I had seen on this, most people just go with whatever the parts store carries.

I went through three different parts stores and had belt alignment problems with them all. They were all the same aftermarket manufacturer also. Went with the Ford part from the dealer for a bit more and have had no more problems.

I don't know what your original looks like, but when I changed mine ( a 92 straight six) I bought it from the dealer and the new one had an extra feature my old tensioner didn't have. The new one had an extra flange with a square hole that accepts a standard 3/8 inch square ratchet drive. The old tensioner needed to be moved by placing a wrench on the pulley nut, it was hard to access because the fan shroud was close to the tensioner pulley. the new tensioner is easier to access, all I have to do is but a 3/8"-drive breaker bar on the top of the new tensioner and torque the pulley up or down as required...very good idea!
