Every now and then (mostly when it is cold) the gauges on my 99 F150 go wild at start up. As soon as the engine starts all the gauges spin all the way around. Then they go back to zero and start working properly. Can anyone help?

Turn your lights on for about 10 minutes without the truck running and see if it will start, if it doesn't the battery is all but toast, mine is doing the same thing right now, I just haven't made it to get a battery yet. I imagine if I do not get it replaced I will be walking shortly.
