i was looking at checkers and they have an adapter that i could use on my 300 6 to change out to a 2 bbl carb from a 1bbl carb would this be an okay upgrade or would i have to go with new cam and lifters as well.
Just changing the Carb. is Only going to encrease your Petrol Consumption.
You need to make the 300 I-6 Breath, & that means you've to Replace the Stock Intake & Exhaust Manifolds w/ Performance ones such as an Offenhauser "C" w/ a 2v or 4v Carb. & A Borla Header or an EFI Exhaust Manifold.
Then you'll notice @ least a 25% increase in power & more than likely better MPG's.
Happy Christmas & a Merry New Year

I used one of those adapters on my truck and bolted on a Holley 2300 series 350 cfm 2bbl carb. The power and drivabilty was noticably increased, the acceleration is much improved over stock. I don't have my carb adjusted quite right yet, so there is still a couple extra ponies hiding in there. I want to eventually go to the aluminum Offy intake. The adapter is not a bad set up but the Offy intake would be best.
I had a 85 f-250 with a clifford 2bbl adapter, and a motorcraft 350cfm carb combined with a set of efi manifolds and the increase was amazing to say the least, it was definetely a worth while swap, the truck ran excellent and it just sounded spot on. its hard to explain but just listening to the engine idle and driving the truck it was like a whole new animal.
Before this the truck ran propane with the original single exhaust, so this is also a huge change to notice going from propane to gasoline power.
I was also scepticle about the giant 2bbl mounted on top of the original intake, and didn't think it would have been worth it, but it was. Somehow the starved 300 actually made use of the extra fuel, and like I said you can tell by how strong the engine sounded with this combo that it was definetly worth while.
