Only if you always drive down hill. Not enough engine for an Excursion

Wait for a decent V10 model ... otherwise, you'll later wish you had. That 5.4 motor is one reason the price is kind of low. Let a soccermom buy it.

Wait for a Mighty V-10...Why settle for the 5.4L when you know you want the V-10?

Or you could wait even longer and find a diesel Excursion and enjoy 20+ mpg on the open road. Or you could just find a V10 Excursion!!!

V10, 6.0, or 7.3, either way you go, you'll have plenty of power to get down the road and do whatever else.

Hold up. Let me play devil's advocate here.

Is the truck a 2WD model?

Does it have the 4.10s?

Will you use it just to drive around in and not tax it with large loads?

Can you get it for about 3-4 grand less?

If you can answer YES to all of those questions then I would "consider" it.

I'll tell you that the 260HP V8 (255 in the Excursion) is a weak engine by comparison to the other engines. I know this because my 03 Expedition had that engine. It would move the truck w/family and would tow my empty 2-horse trailer okay (3200lbs) but it was better suited to family hauling duties. It really needed deeper gears.

A 2WD Excursion (V8) outweighs a 4WD Expy by about 800+ lbs. You'll definantly want deeper gears! However, my guess is that this truck is a lease turn-in and is equipped with 3.73s.

I wouldn't look past it if you can get a smokin' deal on it. Again, only provided that you can answer YES to all of the questions above.

check out the link above in Defiance Ohio. A 2005 V10 XLT with half the miles for a few grand more plus this one still has over 2 years Ford warranty. It does have 3.73's though...

How do you know that? I didn't see gears listed on that ad.

3.73s with the V10 is adequate. 4.30s are better but...

I called the dealer and asked.

I agree...I have the 3.73's and pull my 7500 lb 27' travel trailer with EASE with them and my V10!!! More than adequate.
