Looking for advise on reprogramming and / or calibrating the speedo etc. I was looking at the HyperTech III but I see where it says it will not support the tire / gear calibration on the 5.4L F-250 (mine is a 2004). Someone had mentioned in another post (I can’t seem to find it again though) about something called True Speed or something that would get the speedo calibrated to the larger tires. My thoughts are to get it calibrated and run it for a while to see what the true MPG and performance is like and then make upgrades like air intake and exhaust to try and better both. The truck doesn’t really need to be a rocket but I would like to get the best MPG out of it that I can. It will be used for a daily driver most with light hauling / towing and most likely snowplowing.
I checked that out on the 4WheelParts web site and it looks like it would do the trick. Would I still be able to use the HyperTech programmer after installing it?
I took my truck back to Ford and had them recalibrate the spedo. Was 60.00 and is within 1 MPH @ 70. Cheaper than the Truespeed. But if you plan on changing tires back and forth from one size to another, then you may want the Truespeed.
Not sure about the programmer, I would think that you could use it in conjunction with the tru speed.

I just talked to my Ford dealer(Lake Elsinore, CA), and they said that as long as I was getting other work done on it at the same time, they would do it for free. Otherwise, they charge $90 for it. So, I might as well get a couple things done for it as well. My tranny pan has been bleeding some ATF for a little while, so this would be a good time to have them fix it. $125 for a recalibration and tranny pan fix ain't bad to keep myself clean........
