Tire Size???

I have to put new tires on my truck, currently I have the stock 265/75r16. I am wondering how big I can go without ANY clearance issues, and that will fit on the stock rims? I have a 2 1/2 inch leveling kit on the front. I was thinking about just going to 285/75r16. This is my daily driver, so I dont want to put huge tires on it. Also, any recommendations on brands? I was thinking BFG All-Terrains, or Wrangler MTR's. Like I said, this is a daily driver, with a lot of time on the highway. I want something that is quiet, and wears well, but somewhat aggressive for when I do go out and play! Thanks!

Ahh, finally. Sorry, I guess that was pretty stupid to not put the truck info. I really should set up a signature. It is 99 F-350 4x4 with 2 1/2 " level kit in front. Thanks!

What about 295/75r16's? This is first I have seen them. Does anyone have them or know if they will fit on stock rims without clearance issues?

They will fit but u may have cupping issues with them. Meaning the tire will wear unevenly

With that leveling kit a 295/75/16 will fit with plenty of room. I wouldn't go any larger, not because of clearance issues as much as wheel width issues. Right now I am running 285/75/16 Bridgestone Dueler MT's and am really enjoying them, aggressive styling, good traction on road and off, and very quiet for a mud terrain. I have run the Goodyear MTR. It is another quiet mud terrain tire, but didn't get the wear out of it that I had hoped for, only about 40,000 miles on a 6000lb truck (as opposed to 8,000+). I also have run the BFG All-Terrains in a 285/75/16, probably the best tire for what you are describing. Usually gives over 50,000 miles, quiet, and aggressive enough for the average recreational off-roader. If you decide to go with the 295/75/16 then I highly reccommend the BFG All-Terrains (that's most likely what I will go with next time around). Good luck.

Bob

I appreciate the info. I have an appt. tonight for the 285/75/16 BFG's. But is it worth it to go just a little bigger to the 295's for about $100 more?? Also, why would the 295's be more prone to cupping then the 285's?? Thanks!

not much difference in the 285 and 295, about a half an inch larger in diameter and even less in width, probably not worth the $100. I get my tires at dealer price because of my father-in-law, so the price difference is not as much. I can't say why they would be more prone to cupping other than the increased width, in my experience you would be fine with the 295's. Either way you will be much happier with the increased tire size. It will look much better with your leveling kit than the stock 265's.

Thanks Robert. I am getting the 285's for $785 out the door. Seems like a pretty good price to me.
