Question Vent air is warm???

2005 F250 6.0 When I just use the vent, the air is quite a bit warmer than the outside air. I *assume* (bad bad word) that this is not normal and a trip to the dealer is in order?

Why would you assume that? The vent air is going through the A/C and heater box, it probably does pick up some residual heat from the heater core (not much, though) If you have the automatic climate control, and you have the system on AUTO, having the system blowing through the defroster vents for a few minutes in the morning bothered me until I found out that it was normal. If it does bother you, though, I don't think the dealer or an independent shop would mind giving it a quick look over.

My vent air is very warm at first and if I'm stop-and-go driving it's warm. It is fine when the truck is traveling at a decent speed though. The hotter the ambient temps are the warmer air comes through on the vent setting. I just figure the vent air is drawn in around hot areas under the hood and it takes fast airflow to overcome the warming effect.

My 03 did and my 04 has the same issue, vent air warmer than the ambient outside air. Never had it checked out so I don't know if its normal or not.

That states it well....I was thinking the same thing until recently, when it seemed to be sometimes comming out warmer. You are right, I'll just forget it, the truck is great! The service tech would love me, though..."recently, seemed, sometimes".....I thought of retyping this...taheckwiddit.

Yeah it's one of those things that if you brought the truck in they might mess something up that wasn't broke to begin with

I have the same situation with my '04 F250 6.8L. Vent air is almost always a tad warmer than the outside air. Judging by the replys so far, this is normal for these trucks.
