i have....i have 2 10's i had a buddy that made me a custom box for my birthday last year, i like the only problem naturally is having to move the seat up like 2 notches other than that no complaints
I've got a single 10" in mine. I removed the center armrest from the bench seat and put the box thru there. Sounds pretty good. Having the small cab area helps as there is not much space to fill with sound. I don't think I have any pics in my gallery, but I'll try to post some tomorrow.
I plan to put a couple 10"s in my '89 F150 and have already started wiring for them. Only issue I have is space. I'm tall and have the bench seat back as far as it can possibly go. I can't find any pre-fab boxes that will fit unless its moved forward quite a bit so I guess I'll have to make one. low92flareside: sound like you have a great idea. I'd like to see a pic of your setup also if you get a chance...
my box was custom made, inbetween the 2 subs is a cut out for my amp, i also have the bench seat and where that lip is in the back of the cab you know/....well my box is made to fit that lip so the box has a little area where is dips down, my box is about a foot deep and i have my seat pushed all the way back against it, no problems with amp over heating or anything like that
Took some pics today. I'll try to post them tomorrow.
As for the sound...the sub actually uses the tight space behind the seat as another box to get a little more bump. The sound actually resonates rather nicely without too much distortion when I have the sub facing back (which I do most of the time).
I have a 10" Phoenix Gold sub, set up almost exactly like the moose94 has his. I am fairly tall at just under 6'4" and I CANNOT get the seat all the way back. NBD really, I just have a wee bit less legroom, thats all. Hell, I have driven the beast for almost 14hrs in a single session except for fuel stops and pit breaks - didn't do any harm at all. It does tend to make me sit up straight and tall in the seat though. I get really excellent vibes through the seat against my back and shoulders so I always keep the base and volume up high. The box was custom made by a carpenter friend of mine - nothing too fancy - just holds the speaker in, thats all.
I have two Alpine S-type 12" subs behind my bench seat in my 87 F150. Running 900 watts (450 a piece) they sound great in the small space, and nothing had to be custom made, boxes and all. Its great around here, cuz im the only one who has two 12s in a reg. cab. Sure makes for a ticket or two though with all the power. Anyway, good luck. let me know if you need any info or pics.
