My tailgate glass door will not open. It worked fine last weekend then all of a sudden it wont open. It is like it is stuck locked. Does anyone have any suggestions to getting it open? And of course fixing it. Thanks, Chad.
Yup, happened to me two weeks ago. OOPS, that's because it was -17F and it was frozen solid. I don't suppose in Gaston SC that's the situation though. Sorry, couldn't help myself, I'd try Fords4Me's reply first.
I had my upper door stick on me a while back. I removed the inside panel, looking for a malfunction but found none. By releasing the latch manually from the inside, I was able to push the thing open. I figured that the weatherseal was holding it closed. I was reluctant to pull on the outside handle, and if I had a helper, I would have had him (or her) push from the inside while I pulled the latch from the outside.
Maybe the moter that makes the window go down is burned out or broken, same thing happened in my Centurion.takes for ever to roll down though, i still havn't got to fix mine yet, to buzy.
CENTURIAN, I THINK YOU HAVE YOUR VEHICLES MIXED UP. THE EXCURSION DOESN'T HAVE A REAR WINDOW THAT MOVES. IT ONLY SWINGS UP. THEN THE 2 BARN DOORS OPEN. MAYBE YOU ARE THINKING OF A BRONCO. THE EXCURSION IS NOT NOT EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE TO THE BRONCO. oh, MOTER=motor, BUZY=busy..SORRY, I COULDN'T RESIST.
when I bought my ex i could not get the key to turn the lock. I also had all of my power locks not working reliably. so i used the pictorial on this forum to change all of my lock units. easy job... when I got to my back door, i noticed that the key lock mechanism was rusted up and would not move, I used wd40 followed by some silicon spray. in a few minutes, the lock was move like new. taking off the rear panel is no big deal. you have to take off the pull handle then work the panel off. you will be able to get your hands on the lock.
