For the last few days my alarm remote and keypad have been acting up. Sometimes the remote won't lock the vehicle for a few minutes so I go to the keypad and same thing there. I press the last two #s to lock, and nothing. I press some of the other buttons and the keypad lights up. Any ideas?
I don't think the bats would be going bad in both at the same time. I don't think its cold related because the remote is kept indoors.

Thats what I was thinkin since its kind of odd that the keypad and remote act up at the same time. Probably the actual alarm.
Now the problem is I dont really trust the dealer by me.

My '99 was acting the same way. The dealer replced the batteries, then the fobs. No dice. Ended up having to replace the GEM (General Entry Module) which listens to the fob. It's mounted behind the fuse box.
Glad I'm not alone. So its the GEM. Thats what I figured since it would be highly unlikely that the remote keypad and alarm remote went out at same time.
Problem is it only does it once in a while. And for sure its not going to do it at the dealer.
By the way, what does fob stand for when referring to the key fob.(I know its not fresh off boat). I hate acronyms that I don't know.

1. a vest pocket to hold a pocket watch
2. an adornment that hangs from a watch chain
3. flim-flam: deceive somebody; "We tricked the teacher into thinking that class would be cancelled next week"
4. short chain or ribbon attaching a pocket watch to a man's vest
5. A fob is a chain used to secure a pocket watch to an article of clothing, or any ornament that hangs from such a chain. This includes items hanging off a keychain. The term is also used when referring to electronic security key devices.

Same here. Only did it once in a while, and at first only in my work's underground parking garage, so I figured it was some sort of interference. Then it started happening in my driveway and more frequently.
Try doing what I did - make a list of the times, dates and locations that you have the problem (add few extras to emphasize your point) and present it to the service manager. Once he saw my list he knew I wasn't making it all up.
