Hey Blue,
I made a rear bumper out of 8" channel and bent the ends in about 8 " from the ends at about a 30 degree angle and built a 2 " reciever hitch into it also for the back of a friend of mines 84 F350 CC/DRW. about 3 months later we were standing in his garage drinking a beer one night when a kid in a Honda Civic came cooking down his road alot faster than he need to be and ran smackinto the back of his truck. The score, Ford 1 Honda 0. Totalled the Honda and put the engine through the firewall of the car (the engine decided it was too cold out there under then hood and wanted to come inside to warm up I guess) Believe it or not though the bumper survived and no body damage happened to the truck except for a few minor scratchs from flying plastic and such. Now I just need to build one for mine. I have the original chrome bumper on the front of mine with a bolt on grill gaurd/push bar combo. seems to work good. If I ever get some pictures of this thing I will send some along. Good luck and let me know how the bumpers work out. I am always looking for ideas.
I am still thinking of ideas. As for the 84,i bet the 30 degree ends looked good.Even though my truck does not have the angles in the front end i thought about doin that too and puttin diamond plate across the top.
I still havnt rules out pipe either cause i have seen it done tastefuly. But am leaning towards the 8" channel.
I think i will print some pics of my truck and draw over them some ideas today. It's cold out!
Here is a pic of the truck as of this fall. And yes, that fender is on right now!
Thanks for the ideas! http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?...nce=0&res=high
Diamond plate would be cool in the front and it wouldn't hurt in the back either. One thing I found out after we put the bumper on the back of my Buddies 84 is that the top of the channel only gives you about 2 inchs to step on to get over the tailgate. This tends to suck with muddy boots especially if you already have one leg in the box The diamond plate in the front would also be a great place to mount the winch. The truck looks awesome Man!!
Blue, wait till you see this forest fire bumper it is just what the doctor ordered!!!! it stands off of the front of the truck about 10" with angled ends and diamond plate top with 1 1/2" pipe welded on for the brush guard it wraps around the front of the truck so it protects almost back to the wheels. Didn't get to take the pictures today it rained all day but I will get them as soon as possible and post them for you. John FATFORTY

That bed is probably part of a refrigerator now.hehe
that truck is nice!!! I always liked that style truck alway had a 67 chevy couldn't afford to buy a ford when I got my first one it was an 84 f150 302 c-6 stripped out otherwise (was given to me) then I found this black and silver one sold the 150 for 2,000 added 2,000 and bought it I was in love this has factory captains chairs and everything it could have as an option in 86.

Thanks John.It will be painted soon and will have all the trim it originally had. Thanks to FTE member TAZFORD for the help.He was very good to me!
I will have pics in the pictorial when it gets done.
But it will be spring more likely. Will post pics while it is getting shot though!I have done everything but a good friend shoots paint at a Ford dealer so i will leave that to him.
I like to paint but am not comfortable with metallics, and he has two show cars he shot himself,so he's the man!
John, I saw one of these yesterday on some kind of utility truck, either gas or electric company. it looked alot like the one you've explained.
P.S. Have any pics yet??
John
Blue, wanted to get better pictures but he had a 69 camaro front end sitting on top of the bumper so all the pictures are with the bumper laying on the side that mounts to the truck. The more I look at this thing the more I want to take my chrome bumper off and put this on maybe without the grille guard??? I don't do much woods running anyway but man this thing is really built heavy. John
