Smokin Bad

So I'm drivin thru the mountains in PA headin to OH when I notice that I'm smokin real bad. I was runnn up hill and let the motor load up in OD by accident. Then she startin to "pop" or missfire like it was loadin up with water. I down shifted to 3rd (shoulda dun that to begin with) and she ran fine till I could pull over. Whe I stopped I looked under the truck and could see her smokin from the back side of the engine/tranny area. Smelled real clean to, not like it was oil. Gave it a few minutes and it cleared right up. Now it smokes real bad whenever she's under a load in OD, kick her into 3rd and it's all good. Checked the tranny fluid, all clean and full, engine oil needs changed tomorrow anyway and I'll check the plugs as well. Any possible way I could be burning tranny fluid, or suckin it into the motor. I really don't think it was oil as it didn't smell like it. I'm gonna check my lines to the cooler as well. Oh yeah it's a 93 351w with the e4od. Any help is much appreciated as I have to drive back to VA Beach this week.

I not sure on the "newer" trucks, mine is a 80 model, but if there is a vacumn line running to a modulator, it my be sucking fliud from the trans from the modulator. This has happend to me on my "older" trucks and cars.

smell your tranny fluid. if its burnt or smell rotten then your tranny may have overheated causing the fluid to boil and push out a seal onto the exhaust. does the tranny act funny?

Ok I took a good look and found that it's not tranny fluid. My rear main is just getting worse. I think that when I load the motor up hard she's blowing by. I'm just gonna let it go until I get the new motor together.

get the rear main fixed. it isnt hard. just a pain in the butt. you have to move the tranny out of the way or drop it all together.
