I was just wondering if a proportioning valve can go bad??? and what is the two pronged plug on the top of it for???? Also if I have to replace it, is this a dealer only part if you want a new one... My brake warning light comes on first thing, but if you push the pedal down (as it builds up pressure it goes off) but then it comes back on, once you let off on the pedal!!!
Its been bugging me for the last 2 months and I can't figure it out....
The plug on top is some kind of pressure sensor that is connected to the brake light.Did you have work done on your brakes?I read some where that if work was done on the front or rear brakes and not the other, bleeding both may fix the problem.I don't know if a proportioning valve can go bad but,try one from a pick-a-part and see if that works.
Mine got clogged and completly cut off the rear, I removed it and took it as far apart as i could while using compressed air to unblock it. luckaly it work because there about 200.00 new.
I since have found out that plug is all corroded and was not connected to the valve... but the brake warning light still comes on and goes off like I said earlier... I'm wondering where the warning light is actually connected into the system..???...
