First off thanks for any answers you guys can give me. Ok I just bought and 87 F-150 I6 4x4 4speed. I did the normal tune up stuff(plugs, cap, rotor, air filter, pcv, breather sys, & serp. belt.). After doing this I started her up and she was idleing at 3000k. So i figured maybe when I sprayed the throttle body with cleaner that I screwed up the IAC. Well after replacing the IAC it is still idleing at 3k. I think it maybe a vac leak but I have no idea where to start looking. Also if possible could someone send me pics of what the engine bay should look like cause there is a few things that I have no idea what they are for.
First the basics by looking at the vacuum lines to see if any are off there port or broken. Then get a 2-foot length of ½-3/4 inch hose and place one end to your ear and hold the other to the engine bay and move it around. You will hear a high pitch whistle from a leak.
go and buy a manual if you do not have one. it will help you more than anything else you do.
disconnect the battery to reset the computer.
i had a brand new iac from napa that was bad. so that may be a possibility.
how did it run, idle before? you did a lot of changes at once, the chances that you knocked something off is very possible. get a good light and really look around where you had done work.
and, welcome to fte.

Before i started anything it idled around 1500. Im pretty sure that the leak has to be on the drivers side of the engine because it didnt do it until I changed the oil filter. I did notice that there is a green line(pretty sure vac) that is broke. It goes from what I believe is the egr to a kind of tee above the #6 spark plug. BUt it is only 1/8" line I find it hard to beleive that one little line could be the culprit.
yeah replaced that line....no fix...I was think maybe the tps, the only problem is I cant get the old one off. I already have a new one. I just got home from work and disconeccted the battery to maybe reset the ecm. On the pass side of the engine comp. there is a black box mounted the left and below the battery...what is that? One of the vac lines goes to the tee that splits to each side of the throttle body.
