Advice?????

I have a 87 Bronco II V6 2.9L Automatic 4x4. I was driving the truck and cam to a red light, when the light turned green I went to go and NOTHING. The car was still running, but the car would not go. I towed the car home, replaced the filter and the modulator and tried it. STILL NOTHING!!! Any suggestions?? There was no pop or clunk when it happened. Before it happened when you would switch it between park and reverse or drive you could feel it kick into gear and now there is no sound or feel. What could it be???? PLEASE HELP IT WOUL DBE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!

I use to be able to feel it engage in to gear, but now there is nothing. When I shift it to drive there is no engaging sound or engine drain. It just sits there as if it is still in park.

Question

I have looked at the linkage and everything looks ok. One thing I remember is that when I would either take off or come to a stop there was a click, click, click, click noise. That went on for about a week until it gave out on me. Is there any hope?? If not is it worth putting in another tranny or selling it off( like the wife wants).

If you have no forward (in any gear selection) and reverse I would start with checking the pressure.

Trannies are not my thing, maybe another user can comment on this topic.

I was afraid of that. So do you suggest putting in a new tranny or just selling it off. If I purchased a rebuilt tranny, how long and difficult is it to install??

your trans is an a4ld a rebuilt tranny depending on how they rebuilt it can cost between 450-1500. you could find a junkyard and get one for cheap.
or you can rebuilt yours. rebuilt kits are plenty.

I had a transmission do the same thing to me. I was stopped at a light and when I went to take off...nothing. I had the transmission rebuilt. It was the front pump that had gone bad...
