Looking for a truck
I had a 1980 Shortbed Styleside with the 300 6 many years ago. I liked the engine and truck and have recently started looking for an older Ford truck again. I've been looking and found a 77 shortbed fleetside 2wd in alright shape with the 6 cyl engine. It's a pretty basic truck and needs a little work. It has a bed liner and looks like there may be some "bed-rot" but I'm not sure. Some other slight body rust, and the steering seems sloppy and the brakes also need work.
I love that year's design but I'm torn between that model or spending a little more and getting a slightly newer truck with a few more amenities. I found an 86 with 4wd, air, cruise. It also needs some bodywork but seems mechanically sounder. One of my concerns is that I need something that will pull my 24 ft pontoon boat occasionally but usually the truck will be used for driving back and forth to work. I'm leaning towards the 77 but still torn. The 77 is for sale for $750 and I can get the 86 for $1300. I'd appreciate any thoughts anyone has.
Thanks.

You can find a 73-79 F-100,150,Bronco that has 4wd, cruise, a/c, and all the same features as the 86 your looking at. I bought a 79 Bronco 4wd a/c cruise, in great condition for $1,500.
Nothing is wrong with the 80s style, but I wanted a solid axle 4wd, not the TTB design, and I like and was already fimilar with the 70s, so I went that way.
