The C6 trans has one piece case while the C4 has seperate convertor housing that can be unbolted. the C4 has an 11 bolt pan. The floor shifter can be converted to column by changing the linkage positioning in the valve body in a C4, not sure bout a C6.

Actualy the FMX would be a great trans for our trucks, They can handle plenty of power and load but the fail with high RPM's (6000+).
For Identification: The FMX has a removabe bell hosing like the C4 but it bolts from the outside.

hey guys, sorry i havnt been reponding, i got that flu bug that literaly laid me out all week, merry christmas to everyone!
k, heres the scoop, the trans will be overhauled by hughes transmission, im thinkin about changing drivelines to a 1pc drive line, and the i think im just gonna fab up a new x-member. thanks for advice on the shift arm! that should help!
one more time for the explanation on the "explosion". there has been a bearing noise for a little while similar to an altenator bearing noise, fluids been fine, then one day, i pulled out of a parking lot straightened up on the road and laid in to it pretty hard, kinda usaual tho! first gear seemed to hold out a hair longer, then on the 1/2 shift, it felt and sounded like a shotgun went off under my seat! rpms screamed up, and the truck went knowhere fast! now at first i thought ujoint, no driveline slap, then i thought axle, i was rolling to fast and to smooth for the axle to goof, and the bearing noise is louder and more deep, so im pretty sure its the trans, but i honestly havnt tore into anything yet, just got the truck towed home and found a c6/289 to cheap to pass on, and thats that!
