u-joint ?

First of all, thanks for all the help I have gotten from this site. I have been able to do my ball joints, brakes, and shocks because of the help from all the cool people on this site. Now for my next repair, are replacing u-joints and possibly the carrier bearing on the drive shaft possible for a do it yourselfer, or is this something best left for the pros. Had a u-joint replaced 1 1/2 yrs ago, but a couple of months ago it started to make that damn noise again. Took it to the shop but the mech. couldn't get to it for a few days, so for the time being I sprayed it with wd-40, and the noise stopped. Never did take it to the shop, must of thought the u-joint fixed itself, but know I'm feeling a pretty good vibration when I'm pushing the gas. Took it to the shop today, but the mech. couldn't get to it until monday. Thought I'd see what you guys think, and possibly do it myself this weekend. I wasn't sure if they are pressed on or not. Thanks, Chad F-350 v-10 CC LB 4x4

P.S. I just replaced front rotors, all four shocks, rear pads, and rotated the tires this week, and yes the vibration was there before I did all of these repairs.

It is definitely a table top job. (Don't even think about doing it on your back under your truck.) You will need a vise too. The tricky part is the c.v. (constant vilosity) joints. They are the two joints inside the cage at the front of the rear driveshaft. They are real tight to get in cause Ford didn't leave much working room. Also you will need to mark all your parts before removing so you can put them back on the same way. The vise is needed to press the caps because hitting them with something will knock the needle bearings out. Hope this helps!

I would leave to someone else unless you are a mechanic and have done it B4.
You can bend parts and ruin them..

Thanks for the advice, I'll just wait and take it to the shop on monday. Plus the weather is kind of crappy to be outside working on the truck. (23 and snowing)

just one more thing. if you ever remove the driveshaft, make sure you chock all 4 wheels securely. the last thing you need is your own truck to run over you while youre under it. heard of it happening in other cases.
