You do have auto headlights on your truck. (When the switch is turned all the way to the left, your headlights will come on about dusk or slightly there after, unless you have dark tinted windows, and then it is a little bit sonner.) But sorry, you do not have daytime running lights. You can get them if you want them. Install aftermarket switch and or relay system. There are kits available. Sorry that you bought the wrong vehicle,

actually I just bought a new 06' FX4 from my local dealer (had it optioned out the way I wanted it) and he asked me if I wanted daytime running lights...I said no...so??? maybe there really is an option?

On the '04 the "Autolamp - Automatic on/off headlamps" comes only on the XLT, FX4 and the Lariat as a Standard Option. Not available on the XL or STX.
I can imagaine if one pre-orders their F-150 they can leave off any standard option they wish, i.e. if you do not want it they will not install it.
With auto headlamps turn the light switch so the top of the switch is to the far left where it should be pointing to a symbol that appears like an asterisk (*) with a small "A" in the middle.

ok let me start over, I bought a 05 xlt with auto lights. there are lights in the bumper with bulbs, but they don't seem to work.

To turn on the Fogs turn your light switch to to any postion to the right, then pull the switch toward you.
Not to worry. I had the same problem.

Daytime Running Lights
When I purchased my 04 SCab, the lights were an after market option thru Ford, Coupleoford was right! Make sure you buy them thru Ford, they work perfect. They do not run on full brightness in the day time, and switch to nightime on there own, they install a light sensor, fits perfect on the left interior front post, no wires showing etc.
