I had a guy ask me a question today that kinda stumped me. I dont think it would be possible but...
A guys got a 2wd 90 f150. He asked me if a 1990-1996 4wd suspension lift would work on his 2wd....??
I told him most likely not, unless where his front suspension bolts up was exactly the same as the 4wd front suspension.
They should both use the same ttb front suspension arms correct??
And they both run off of the same radius arm setup right??
And the springs should fit his truck the same way as the 4wd.....
So would it be possible, or is it totally different???
As Ed McMahon yoused to say "You are right Sir!". The mounting points on the half tons are the same for 4x4 and 2 wheel drive. That makes it not too hard to convert to 4x4.
I'll fourth that. It works. I converted my '92 F150 earlier this year. There are a few pictures in my gallery. If your buddy has any questions, I'd be glad to try to answer them.
Are you guys SURE about this? As I read the question he's not asking whether his friend can convert his 2wd truck to 4wd (which can certainly be done), he's asking whether a 4wd lift kit can be used on a 2wd truck. The mounting points may all be the same, but I don't know if all the brackets themselves are the same - I'm guessing it's not a direct fit.
Yeah, I probably should've read the question more closely. 2wd rear leaves are 2.5" wide and the 4wd are 3" wide. The front bracketry is exactly the same. The TIB front is about 1.5-2" lower than the TTB, all else being the same, though.
