oil pressure gauge
I wondering, would this be a pressure problem, or gauge? Any ideas? Also, I'm not a complete idiot, but what the heck is FE. I know Fuel Injection, but what is the E?
Buy an extenal oil pressure gauge and see if you still have the proble. If you don't, replace your in-truck gauge. If you do, check the oil level. My 68 F-100 would do that when the oil level got low. If the level is Ok, you could have a plugged oil return gallery. The engine is pumping the oil into the engine, but it can't drain into the pan fast enough, the oil level drops, and so does your pressure.
Just my thoughts.first remove the sending unit and see if there isn't a piece of crud blocking the hole impeding the oil from reaching the sensor.
The letters FE that you see used is an engine family designation
360>390>428,Etc are FE engine series engines, originally thought to be related to the Ford Edsel<
The 429/460 are part of the 385 Series engines
The 351C,351M ,400, are 335 series engines
