Hey Everybody, I'm a newbe to FTE. Dont worry, the 454 is a gun thing not a Chevy thing.
Has anybody had any success with throttle body spacers? What kind of increases did you find? I have a '99 Superduty 250 w/5.4, K&N intake kit, and Flowmaster exhaust. Will a spacer make any dif, or should I save my $ for a tuner?

See you on the boards. ….
Save your money! I'm not just saying that on a whim. I've learned the hard and expensive way that little bolt on things such as larger throttle bodies and mass air meters are a waste of $$$$$. A throttle body spacer is not going to give you any noticeable increase in performance. Go with a tuner, that would be your best bet. BTW, welcome to FTE!
1. If an extra inch of material is all that's required to make that much difference in power and economy, don't you think that the factory would have already done it. Think about it, the factory is already trying to squeeze as much economy and performance out of the engine........
2. With port injection, only AIR is going through the throttle body. There's no added atomization/mixing effect happening. What's the point?
3. Swirling the air? Please. If all it takes is one inch of spacer to induce a swirl into the incoming air, what do you think the 12-20 inches of corregated intake tube do?
What about surface imperfections INSIDE the plenum?
There are many scams out there this is one of them. Along with intakes and all that other bolt on stuff. I wish there was a regulating body that would outlaw trickery and deceptive hp claims. A tuner a turbo or super charger will add HP but the other things are ridiculous..You might see some more HP but at 5000 rpm who drives around town at 5000 rpm. Also some of the bolt on stuff kills low end performance so some guy's end up removing the junk. Headers and exhausts are another thing you have to watch out for.
