Will this tire/wheel package work?

I have a stock 2006 F350 CC Diesel Fx4 with the camper package (heavy service front springs)

Anyone see any issues running this tire/wheel combo stock. (I'm giving up on finding a tire to fit my 18" wheels with the Contimentals)

Any issues (rubbing, weight, etc?)

Tire: BFG 315/70/17 (bsw)
Wheel: MB Offroad Gunner 8 Chrome 17" x 10" 8-170 -25c

4 wheels and 4 tires $1719 to my door mounted and balanced.

My only question would be the what is the back spacing on the wheel. It might stick out of the wheel well if there isn't much of a backspace.

I think that -25c you posted means a -1" center or offset of 1" (about 25mm) so those should have a 6" backspacing and a 4" front dish. That is a wide wheel and will stick out very slightly. You'll have no problems on the rear, but the front might rub at full turn. A 2" coil spacer would probably cure that and they are pretty easy to install, plus it will level your F350 nicely. I've got 325/70R17 on 17X9 with 4.625 backspacing, with F350 rear blocks and coil spacers on front. They stick out an inch or so. it looks good, but will throw crap all over....up your mirrors, side windows, on the roof.....

If you ran those 315 bfg on 17X9 wheels with 6" backspacing or 17X8 with 5" back spacing you should be good to go with no lift, might just need to pull back the inner fender wells a couple of inches with zip ties.

I could live with that. I'd just put some trick fender flares on. I like the look of those anyway.

I wouldn't have a problem with putting a coil spacer on if I had to.

Thanks for the input!

If I buy new wheels (and they fit) I won't have anything to do with the stockers.

I got the 18" Aluminum Forged wheels and the 275/70/18 Contimental's on them.

Actually last night I was looking at the wheels/tires when I washed my truck. I think if it wasn't for the contimentals not being good in snow I'd stick with them. But they blow swampnut in snow.

If you are interested send me a PM and if I get new wheels we'll work something out.

Hey Mike (or others)

I just remembered that with the slighly larger tire I really can't put a lift on. It would raise my truck higher then would fit in my parking garage downtown here in Milwaukee at my office. I have about 1.5 - 2" clearance now. With the slightly larger tires I will be about 1/2" taller and don't want to cut it any closer then that.

Looked at other wheels. They didn't have anything 17x9. I'm going to try a different source, but if I can't find one, and I go with the original idea of 17x10 inch rims with those tires. If I do rub, will I be rubbing hard parts, or just inner fender wells that I can alter?

Just a thought......If you wanted to keep the stock wheels, Nitto makes a 285/60R18 in the Terra Grappler, but it is only 13/32nd. Those are approved for an 8" wheel. They also make a 325/65R18 at 15.6/32nd deep. That is basically a 35X13.0X18 Tire. It calls for a 9" wheel, but might look ok on an 8" wide wheel, just won't wear as well. Toyo makes the Open Country M/T in a 33X12.50R18 that calls for a minimum 8.5" wheel, but I bet they would look awesome on your stock wheels and fill the wheel well nice. I love those tires, just couldn't get them when i wanted them.

Back to your question....those 315s on 10" wide wheels will most likely only rub at full lock or at half lock on an extreme angle or something that won't happen much on road. The front bumper lower valance is easily trimmed with a utilty knife heated up. You can also easily use a heat gun to warm up the inner fender wells behind the front tires, drill two small holes, hook some black zip ties together, thread them through the holes and pull the fender well back and tie it to the frame somewhere. You can easily get two more inches of clearance. The coil spring fronts have way more clearance then the older leaf spring trucks. Unless you go over 6" of backspace, you shouldn't hit any hard parts........but I can't gaurantee it without seeing your truck and doing a test fit

Other sizes to consider are 305/70R17 or 295/70R17
