These were replaced by Ford in September 2004 and I just tried to turn them last night and they won't turn again. Is there a quick fix for these stuck locks? should I try to force them? Am I up a creek here? If it matters they are stuck in the auto position and the 4WD does work on and off just fine! Should Ford replace these under warranty again even if the truck has a little over 36k miles on it?
Aren't parts and labor covered for 12 months/ 12K after repair or replacement? It's been 17 months. You might be out of luck. The little over 36K might save you depending on how 'little' you are over.
Esof will engage when your stuck you do not need to move the truck for them to engage as the axles will turn and lock in the hubs. I played with this on mine and I know it works.
That's right. The system is just like the manual set-ups in respect to engaging.
All that needs to move in the front is either the axle or the wheel for the hubs to lock. If you're stuck with no forward or backward movement, the axle will orientate to match splines with the hub. All the t-case requires is for the servo motor to engage the gearing.
