I own a 1985 f150 with the dana 44 front end, twin i -beam set up. im getting alot of vibrations only in 4 wheel drive. i change the front locking hubs from stock to superwinch's and that did not seem to be the problem. would anyone have any idea of what it could be???
Mine had a bad vibration when I got it, and the splines on the front driveshaft where shot. Take it out of 4wd, unlock the hubs, and move it around in 2wd to get everything free. Then get under the truck and grab the front driveshaft and try to move it side to side. It should not have any side to side movement. You can also twist the shaft back and forth to see if the u-joints are ok.
If the driveshaft splines are bad, you can buy a new yoke(female piece) and a new spline piece for the driveshaft(male piece) and take it to a machine shop and they will weld the new male spline on the old driveshaft for you and balance it.
