Amsoil Questions
is this what you are refering to?
AMSOIL Synthetic Heavy Duty Diesel & Marine Motor Oil is recommended for use in diesel engines and other applications requiring any of the listed worldwide specifications and gasoline engines requiring API SL, SJ, SH… or ACEA A3.
API CI-4+, CF, CF-2, SL
i am new to diesels and tring to get the right answer so i dont void any warrantys and such.
ford390 what oil do you use? convent or synth.?
Amsoil could be a good product. I will never know because I will not use a product when it is knowingly marketed with, at the very least, smoke and mirrors. They present an illusion of acceptance.
A lot of implied certifications when none exist. I say none. I think one or two may be API certified....at the most. They use wording to make the guide the reader to think that their product is certified. They produce tests that show they are superior...inhouse tests.
If Amsoil feels the need to lie and deceive then I feel the need not to trust them and the urge to stay far away.
BTW: There have been stories here reporting no return calls from Amsoil when a problems arises...good warranty.
Like I said, may be a good product...just beware.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
And GM an Ford are having a tough time because their competition from japan is wooping their collective sorry asses with superior products.........i hate to say it but it the truth. Ive been saying for awhile if japan got serious about making trucks well the big 3 are doomed. Look at GM, Ford and Chrysler.....we can all debate who makes the better truck.........but as far as cars go? Chrysler is all over it with the Magnum, Charger and 300. (althought i will admit the charger looks like a ticked off bug from the front end). What do Ford and GM have? The Impalla and Malibu (yawn) and the Fusion and 500 (fusion is ok.......but quality needs to get better, 500? DOUBLE YAWN) the interiors are ok......but the outside of it is just plain boring.......hell a crown vic looks better.
Corporate greed has nothing to do with these terrible designed cars.......the americans have no guts anymore. The only thing we do well is (at least try) to protect profits and make shareholders happy, and keep the consumers "happy enough". These cars have no soul, they dont yell out for love. Theyre boring, plain and simple.
Obviously there are other problems that have hurt the Big 3, labor cost, healthcare cost, labor laws etc etc.....my question is do the japanese have UAW workers working for them here in their american assembly plants? How are they able to make it work? i dont know and i dont pretend to have all the answers.....fact of the matter is this:
The government has too much power, the corporations have too much power, and the special intrest groups have too much power. I ask you, what is missing?
"We the people" of course.....but who are we? we voted in an idiot, or so ive been told.
PS: I CANT STAND WALLMART, but i dont demonize it. There is a huge percentage of the population that loves it. Theyve destroyed the middle class, but charge cheap prices.......seems that sort of offsets......its just opposite of what usually happens in america.....sorta like a controlled deflation. But to each his own.....personally, i dont care who works where or for how much, its all personal choice. I got a 1300 on my SATs. What did i do? I went to school to get my aircraft maintenance license. I know im not a suit, let alone a "strustured learning environment" student....Now im back in contracting. We all have choices. Oh, if the gas prices are to much, sell your truck. Obviously they didnt hurt people that much, there isnt a glut of SUVs/Trucks on the lots.

As far as the Amsoil warranty, if you like it, obviously you haven't read
all of the "fine print"!!!!
Here is a portion of what I posted in another Amsoil thread:
The fact that Amsoil brings up the scenario of what to do when a vehicle manufacturer's warranty is void due to the use of an Amsoil product should
tell you there have been problems. If the oil was API certified, then this
would meet the vehicle manufacturer's rquirement, and it wouldn't be a
problem! I also find the "fine print" in Amsoil's warranty interesting. If you
are using an Amsoil product, you have to request warranty coverage IN WRITING first!!! Definately not worth the risk or potential hassle!!!
Here is part of the Amsoil warranty conditions from their website:
2. "AMSOIL lubricants that have been used for the purposes of racing or in applications where the OEM required lubricant standards do not match those stated by AMSOIL INC. without the written approval from AMSOIL INC".
API certification requirement by the vehicle manufacturer would fall into this category.
