which smog pump?

which smog pump?

i have an 85 f150 w/ carb and the gay computer thing that controls timing...when i bought my truck it had no smog pump but i want to put one on...advance says that there are 2 possibilities...how do i know which one goes on my truck w/o the old smog pump?

If you go to www.partsamerica.com(the advance site) and plug in your truck, you can see the difference in the pumps. I think the difference is the way the plumbing hooks up to the back of the pump.

Same here, I have pretty much everything to do with the smog mess for a 351 if you need anything.

what SHOULD my truck have to be running properly after the smog equipment was removed?

On trucks with a GVW of #8500 or more, no catalyctic converter is required, I guess they compensated by throwing on an extra pump.

I would go to the junkyard and see if you can find a truck like yours to look at, at see which pump it has. Does the store have them in stock, or is it a special order item. If it's in stock, can't you just take it out to your truck and compare real quick?
