I understand your dilemma, but it's really a no-brainer for anyone who pulls a trailer. I always wanted a diesel but until recently I couldn't justify the expense. Ironic in that fuel is now a quarter a gallon more expensive than gas. This drove the nail home:
A 1300 mile roundtrip last weekend to pick up a K30 in MD.
I have never owned a V10 or a diesel (on my 2nd SD V8) but I would say to evaluate your need and buy accordingly, regardless of fuel costs, which will fluctuate anyway. If you are towing or carrying heavy loads a lot then a diesel should be considered. My friend has a V10 Excursion and he finds that it tows 7000 lbs effortlessly and gets about 11 to 12 and around 9 towing. If you are worrying about gas cost, what about the cost of the diesel purchase and the added maintenence tht I understand that they require. All factors to consider.
