Manual trans - no reverse?

Does anyone know how a 1983 f150 4x4 4spd 300 six, can possibly have no reverse in 2H and 4H but have it in 4low. The tranny growls under load in all forward gears but stops when you let off the throttle. Im thinking shifting fork but i sure would appriciate any help you can give.

Im thinking you need at the least , a bearing replacement , possibly all of them, bob

have you checked the gear oil?

Gear oil is good took top of tranny off through floor boards every thing looks good except 3rd has some maring starting to look like syncro? tranny's comming out today
