transmition fluid change

hi all its been a while.

its now plowing season and i would like to change my trans. fluid for the first time. i have a drain plug. i have read the step by step on this sight but am confused a bit about flushing the system. so first drain the pan and then flush it out through the same pan drain hole? i dont think i need to change the fillter the truck only has 45,000 miles on it.
thanks gabe

No, you don't even have to drain the pan first if you don't want to.

You can drain it and then plug it back up and refill and start this method. You remove the return line to the transmission and pump it out in stages from there. Make sure the transmission is warm or it will blow fluid out the bypass instead of the return line.
