Overdrive

I'm was getting a light grinding noise upon overdrive engagement last night. It would do it for maybe a second and a half then go away. I turned overdrive off for the meantime and turned it back on later that night and it was acting perfectly fine for the rest of the night and this morning. Is this anything to worry about?

Fluid level ,when was it last changed ?
Why wait for something to happen have it chkd out at the tranny shop.
