my 86 351w f150 has been leaking oil for some time now,and i just now have time to tear it apart &replace gaskets.I did this twice on a 302&351 car.should it be the same job&does the the dist. have to come out again.that seamed to be the biggest pain in @#$&,was getting the dist out&back in again!thanks.
and by the way the reliabilty of the haynes manual leaves some room for improvement. i look in mine and it does say anything about the distributor rod for the oil pump at all. makes you wonder how many people have fried there engines using that manual
You don't always have to remove the distributor. If you don't pull it you need enough room to bring the intake in from the back at an angle. I find it easier to just pull it out.
