how mwny members registerd historical/antique?

Guys & Gals... Since we are in the classic/antique section of the hobby (whether you like it or not ) It got me wondering, How many of us own pre-1980 vehicles that we HAVE registered and insured as classics & Antiques? Also, How many of us choose to keep the state inspection going strong? We're counting the only vehicles at least twenty five years old.

Just give us all a quick, couple, rules /laws/reg requirements you no longer are applicable too.

I'll lead us off ...In NJ if your "Stock"appearing vehicle is 25 years old (or more) you may register it as a HISTORICAL VEHICLE. tHIS IN FACT IS A GOOD THING.

fIRST: THERE IS A ON TIME PAYMENT OF $43.00, EVERY two YEARS AFTERWARD YOU JUST SEND THE STATE UPDATED OWNER INFO.

second: THE STATE OF NJ HAS EXEMPTED "HISTORICALS" FROM INSPECTION.

THIRD: MY INSURANCE IS 1/3 OF WHAT i WAS PAYING FOR A SIMILAR OLDER VEHICLE.

fOURTH: SOME LOCAL PARTS DEALERS WILL "BE GENTLE" ON THe PARTS AS THEY ARE MOST LIKELY JUST TAKIN' UP SPACE ON THEIR SHELVES.

ANYONE ELSE?...

My 83 F150 is quite eligible in Texas, but my 78 Grand Prix has Antique plates.

It must be 25 years or older.
It must not be a daily driver, rather be used for shows and meetings.
You pay $60 for a five-year plate.
You are exempt from safety and emissions testing.
I'll have to check out the insurance situation.

In 2007 I'll be able to get antique plates for my '82 in RI. I'm not sure if I want to go that route though as--like srercrcr said--they are not supposed to be a daily driver (like 2,000 miles limit per year). My truck just passed emissions a couple of months ago, so I'll probably try again in '07. It would still need a safety inspection regardless. My insurance is only $400 per year, so that's not too much of a factor (though I'll probably still check it out to see if I can some significant savings, who knows...).

Here in the Volunteer State, antique tags are lifetime, and anything over 25 calendar years old is eligible. $50 and you never have to re-register. HOWEVER, if you get caught using the vehicle for general transportation, you can't register anything as an antique for several years and will be responsible for all registration fees AFAIK. Not that good a deal here, as registration is only $23 in my county and TN has no inspection laws. They only fool with that in the Nashville metro area and Memphis.
