WHY ME?
Well, it happened. I just recently pulled the chromed up 390 from my '59 and stuck it in my '70. And, this evening, when I cranked it up to take my wife out for her birthday dinner, I heard that tell-tale sound of a rod knocking in the distance. Had to drive my wife in HER F100.
Does anyone want to learn how to overhaul a 390 FE? I'm more than willing to share my many years of experience.
Actually, the engine didn't have that many miles on a rebuild, but it has sat for long periods of time between start-ups. My fault for driving the '70 more than the '59.
I'm just going to do the lower end (and maybe the cam bearings) since it wasn't using any oil, just had low oil pressure.
