4.2 liter lemon
I have a 2000 f150 4.2 liter v6. I have a friend with the same truck that just blew up. The head gasket or maybe the timing chain cover gasket broke, boom. I have read alot about this being more than common. Went to the local ford dealership (alexander ford). Talked to the service writer about this. He says he has never heard of it. No recalls, nothing. this appears to be a very common problem with this motor. Any help, ideas?

If you go to the 3.8 4.2 engine fourm you will find it is a common problem. Seems to start with slight loss of coolant. If gone unchecked it can result in catastrophic engine failure. I am currently dealing with a unexplainable coolant loss and checked the fourm for possible answers. A great resource arena.
