Fuel leak

Hey guys, for a couple of weeks now, I've noticed fuel dripping to the ground below my engine. It seems to do it the most in the mornings when I let my truck idle for 10 minutes or so to warm up. Any ideas what that could be?

I just read on another post that it could possibly be some o-rings in the drain valve. My truck is at the dealership and they're going to check it. Are they going to try to sell me a $300 kit that I don't need?

I'm starting to think it's probably those o-rings since the trouble started around the time we started getting cold weather.

If it's the drain O-rings you can fix it for about $7.

Have you guys heard of a filter housing assembly for $583? It has a crack in it that's causing my leak. They also say my thermostat housing is corroded and needs replacing before it starts leaking, too. Does this sound legit? I don't really have a reason not to trust these guys, but am just wondering.

Sounds legite. How handy are u? You could probably get the parts online for a lot less and do it yourself.

Both of those parts are very easy to replace. I would want to look at the filter housing for myself just to be sure. I have not heard of too many cracked housings before. The thermostat housing thing is kind of common. You can definitely get the parts cheaper off-line than buying from the stealership. If the filter assembly is $583 then the labor will probably be around the same.

Yeah. Thanks guys! I'm between a rock and a hard place. I don't really have the time to mess with it for a while, so I'm going to have to bite the bullet I guess and have them do the work for me. It sucks!

I priced a filter housing assembly for $200 (local friend) which is a good deal, cuz the stealerships all wanted between 300-400. I looked at it, and it is a full day job to replace the entire housing. If time is an issue, you just might have to. I did when my A/C gave out. 110 out and no A/C, I just took it to the dealer. Cost me $800, but I have dealt with ford ac before and dont want to anymore.

I just received my O-rings from BCD today and will be installing them. This should cure my problem.

Thanks! That's great info. Maybe someone else will read this before they spend $700 +/- having it repaired...

Change out went great without any problems, which cured the leak.

Thanks
