Depending on the year, yes they could share the same tooth count.
They are the same diamter.
But they don't interchange.
Reason being, the 300's flexplate/flywheel has a neutral balance, where the 302 depending on the year, was either 28 or 50 oz imbalance.

Perfect thats all i needed to know. I'm looking at buying a adapter kit designed to bolt a 700r4 to a 302 and wanted to make sure that the 300 flexplate was the same because then the kit should work for me.
and wanted to make sure that the 300 flexplate was the same

You realize I was saying they are different, right?
I do realize what your saying. I know that they are not interchangeable but if they are the same diameter that means that the flexplate on my 300 will work with the kit. I was just worried that the flexplate on my motor was a different diameter than the 302 which would mean the starter wouldn't line up if i used this kit.
Sorry about not posting back sooner, been away working. The reason i'm using a 700r4 instead of a AOD is i'm getting a 700r4 for free from a buddy and tracking down a AOD in this area had been hard. Most of the places around here don't have the AOD or have stock rebuilt ones. I don't want to pay around $1000.00 for a stock tranny. This truck i'm building is going to be driven pretty hard and i want an overdrive tranny that can be built to take the abuse.
