You have to apply 12 volts to one side of the led and let the TC switch ground it out to complete the circuit. Make sure you are using a 12v led, otherwise, poof!

I know I've asked this before, but I didn't really get any good answers. When and why would you want your Torque converter to be locked up? Thanks

When going down hill with a trailer, it keeps the transmission locked up to slow you down (the engine helps with the braking). My favorite is going up hill pulling my camper. Keeping the torque converter locked and the transmission in overdrive, if you go up a small hill when the transmission would normally downshift to third (when it shifts from overdrive to third the torque converter unlocks for a second or two and really revs the engine) you can shift to third without the unlocking and high RPMs. This helps with drivablity and transmission temps.

Ok thanks Joe. Are there any times where I shouldn't use the TC Lockup or where it could hurt my tranny?

It acts likes a clutch, when slowing to a stop it will lug the engine and stall it. Never engage it at a stand still. This is only my opinion, I never engage it below 2000rpm. Hope this helps.

Talking T/C lock

Say rampage, You hit it right on the head. I hooked my lock through a micro switch on the brake peddle in on emode and direct lock in exhaust brake mode so you can use the brakes without unlocking the converter. This can be done with one switch on the dash.

I NEVER engage it from a dead stop. When slowing down I cut it off below 1000-1200 RPMs (the pump pressures get to low to keep a good supply of fluid in the transmission). I also don't engage it untill after the computer locks the torque converter (I use it to keep it locked). The computer grounds it slowly and smoothly in stages and the switch is an immediate ground. Your OD OFF light will flash from time to time, but it won't hurt anything.

Hey Joe, there is a thread that came out a month or two ago on how to get rid of the flashing OD light on the shifter. I have been flash free for a while now.

Talking T/C lock

Hey Joe, If you think the presure is to low to use the lock you should engauge yours off idle and see how fast the engine dies. Using this at low speeds is the whole ides behind this mod. I gained 1 1/2 mpg in town by lowering the rpms and slippage from the converter. You will generate way more heat in the trans by slipping around town. The stock line pressure is strong enough to lock the converter of idle and if you have the Sonnex valve thats all the better. I take of unlocked and engauge the lock at 12mph with my foot off the throttle. You can hardly feel the engaugement. I would like to know where the thread is for the blinking O/D light. My X doesn't do it but the Superduty does.

Look for the replies that refer to using a diode.
