My 79 F100 2wd's steering is loose.....2 inches of play in the steering wheel. It has power steering. Can I take the box out and rebuild it myself? Is it easy for a novice like me?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-Jan-02 AT 11:55 PM (EST)]Have you adjusted it yet ?
If not,on the top of steering gear, there is a nut with a slotted
threaded screw. Hold the slotted part while you loosen the nut.
With the nut loose,Turn the screw clockwise about a 1/4 turn. Tighten the nut.
Now try the steering, any better , if not adjust it some more.
