fuel pump wiring

Does it matter if the wires going to the fuel pump get reversed? If my brother does got them wrong will the truck start but run like crap? This is on a 89 bronco 2 for my brother.

That may cause a problem if you switch the ground and hot wire.

I am wondering if it would still start though. It starts but runs like crap.

Since your using DC current I would Guess the pump would turn the wrong way and could effect the fuel pressure.

How did it run before replacing the pump?

It ran like crap but i think the problem then was bad wiring going to the relay. I guess i could pierce the wires and use a meter and see if it shows negative voltage. Just thought maybe someone would know if at least it would run. When i find out i will let yas know.

Screw on a fuel pressure gauge & check the pressure.

A meter won't help answer the question. Check the presure like 87 said.

revirsing the pump terminals would cuase the engine to run not at all i would think unless you have a 1889 tru 1986 bronoc i think those years had 2 pumps so one only may be working just enough to get veru low fuel presssure to make it run, but like crap ethier way check both pumps with your meter on the ohm setting and see if ethier have continutiy if one or both show no connection then say goodbye you would have a fried pump if they are fried id run some tests to see why they fried before putting a new one in
