The other day, the "AMPS" idiot light on the dashboard came on in my '93 full-size Bronco. The voltage gauge still shows normal alternator output (about 14V) when running and the battery does not seem to be draining. Before I start digging into this, can anyone make a guess as to what's going on here?

Unplug your ISA plug and see if the light goes out, if it does you have a problem with you alternator. If it does not go out you have a short to ground in the wire from your cluster to the ISA plug. The ISA plug just unplugs out of your alternator and has two or three wires on it with three pins.
There has been a few guys on here who have discovered this wire pinched inbetween the battery or something(I forget what it was), grounding the wire and making the light come on. Try subford's test and see what you get.
